Driving West...Colorado...Summer 2001

A sampling of photos. Click on photos to open in a new window.

A dirt road, open only in summer, winding it's way through Rocky Mountain National Park.

Along this road, this view is over the edge to the road we've just driven below. No guardrails protect the road edges and the "switchback", hairpin turns were rutted and sharp turns.

The rock outgrowths were barely willing to share the road with the cars creeping to the mountain top.

Striking sawtooth peaks in the center of the park.

A view from the top.

Looking down, from the top of the snow capped mountains.
